How many porta potties do you need for a party?
A party of up to 50 guests for 4 hours or less needs 1 standard porta potty. Use 1 unit per 40 guests for 5 to 8 hours, and add 1 unit for every 3 when alcohol is served. A 120-guest, 5-hour graduation party with beer needs 3 units plus 1 more, so 4.
| Guests | Up to 4 hours | 5–8 hours | 5–8 hours with alcohol |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| 100 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| 150 | 3 | 4 | 6 |
| 200 | 4 | 5 | 7 |
| 300 | 6 | 8 | 11 |
Method: guests ÷ 50 (up to 4 hours) or ÷ 40 (5–8 hours), rounded up; alcohol adds 1 unit for every 3, rounded up. Run your numbers in the calculator.
When does an event porta potty arrive and leave?
An event porta potty arrives one day before your event and leaves the next business day. A Saturday graduation party gets its unit Friday and pickup Monday, at no extra charge. Saturday delivery is available for Sunday events, and holiday weekends start delivery earlier in the week.
The driver calls about 30 minutes out and texts a photo of the placed unit. Nobody has to be home.

Do you need a permit for a party porta potty in Bellingham?
A porta potty on your own property needs no Bellingham permit. Events in a city park need a Parks special event request at least 30 days ahead, and events that close a street need a city special event permit. A unit placed in the street needs a Public Works right-of-way permit.

Which unit should guests use?
Guests at most backyard parties are fine with standard porta potties plus a hand washing station. Choose deluxe flushing units for showers and dressy events, add one ADA wheelchair-accessible unit when older relatives or the public attend, and move to a trailer above about 80 guests.

After choosing parties and events as the job type, most renters need three more answers before booking: which unit fits, how many units the head count needs, and what the itemized quote will include. The planning pages below cover each one for Bellingham and the surrounding counties.
Parties and events rental questions
Why pay for a whole weekend for a 4-hour party?
Event units bill one flat rate whether the party lasts 3 hours or 3 days, because the truck makes the same two trips either way. Friday drop and Monday pickup are included.
Can I keep guests out of my house bathroom and septic?
A porta potty keeps traffic out of the house and load off a septic system during big parties. Set it near the gathering with a clear path and a light.
Can the church or school get a written quote for the board?
The quote goes by email as a PDF the committee can approve. Hold dates while the board decides.
Can you deliver to a park or a beach access?
Delivery to parks works when the truck can reach the spot on a firm surface. City parks may need a permit first.
Do you have porta potties for the Fourth of July?
The Fourth of July is the busiest weekend of the year. Reserve 2 to 3 weeks ahead; units arrive by July 2 or 3.
Can I lock it until the party starts?
Ask for a hasp and add your own padlock to keep it closed until guests arrive.
