Which porta potty type fits your job?
Choose a standard porta potty for job sites and casual events, a deluxe flushing unit when guests expect a sink, an ADA wheelchair-accessible unit whenever the public attends, a hand washing station beside food, and a VIP cabin or restroom trailer for weddings. Gate width and hookups often decide it.
| Unit | Exterior size | Gate opening needed | Hookups or ground | Fits | Relative cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 43.5 in wide × 47 in deep | 48 in | None | Crews, casual parties | Least |
| Deluxe flushing with sink | 47 × 47 in | 52 in | None | Guests, showers | Low-mid |
| ADA wheelchair-accessible | 62 × 62 in | Driveway only | Level ground | Public events | Mid |
| Hand washing station | 26.5 × 21.5 in | 32 in | None | Food, crews, kids | Low |
| VIP luxury restroom | Single cabin | Driveway only | Level pad | Small weddings | Upper |
| Restroom trailer | Towed trailer | Truck access | Spigot, 110V, level | 80+ guests | Highest |
How do you pick between a porta potty and a restroom trailer?
Pick a restroom trailer when you have more than 80 guests, a level spot the truck can back onto, a garden-hose spigot and a 110-volt outlet. Pick porta potties when any of those are missing, when the spot is tight or sloped, or when the budget is the main concern.
A middle path works for many Bellingham weddings: a VIP cabin for the wedding party plus deluxe flushing units for guests. See the sizing calculator for counts.
Questions about choosing a unit
Which porta potty is cheapest to rent?
The standard porta potty is the lowest-cost unit. Adding a separate hand washing station is usually cheaper than upgrading every unit to a sink model.
Can I mix unit types on one order?
One order can mix any units, such as 4 standard, 1 ADA and 1 hand washing station, on one delivery and one quote.
Which unit fits through a 36-inch gate?
Only the hand washing station fits a 36-inch gate. Toilets need about 48 inches or more, so they usually go in the driveway or front yard.
Do any units need electricity?
Only restroom trailers need power, from a 110-volt outlet or a generator. Every other unit is self-contained.
