Which Sammamish right-of-way permit covers a porta potty?
Sammamish sorts right-of-way permits into types. Type A covers special events plus dumpsters or PODs in the right-of-way, and Sammamish wants Type A applications at least 8 weeks before the event. Type D covers items placed in the right-of-way. Ask the Sammamish Permit Center which type fits a porta potty.
The city page does not name portable toilets, so confirm before you place one on a street. Reach the Permit Center at permittech@sammamish.us or (425) 295-0531.
- An 8-week lead time means street events need early planning.
- Type B covers driveway and frontage construction.
- A spot on your own driveway avoids the permit entirely.
Where should a porta potty go on a steep Sammamish lot?
Sammamish has mapped landslide hazard areas, which include steep slopes, with a minimum 50-foot buffer from the top and toe of the slope. A Sammamish porta potty needs a flat, firm spot away from those slope edges. Tell us about steep Sammamish driveways before delivery day so the driver can plan.
A unit set on a grade can tip or leak. Our driver needs a level pad and a clear path from the truck.
- Gravel or pavement beats soft lawn in the rainy months.
- Keep the unit clear of drainage paths and slope edges.
- Send a photo of the drop spot and the driveway.

Sammamish porta potty rental questions
My Sammamish driveway is steep. Can you still drop a unit?
Often we can, if there is a level spot at the top or bottom. The truck needs firm ground and a clear path. Send a photo and we will tell you what works.
We want a porta potty on the street for a Pine Lake block party. What permit is that?
Sammamish handles special events in the right-of-way with a Type A permit, due 8 weeks ahead. Ask the Permit Center to confirm it covers a portable toilet. A driveway spot avoids the wait.
Does my Klahanie HOA need to approve the unit?
Many HOAs set rules on where temporary items can sit and for how long. Check your HOA rules before delivery. We can place the unit in a less visible spot if needed.
How early should I book for a June graduation party in Sammamish?
Book two to three weeks ahead for June weekends. We drop the day before at no extra charge. A deluxe flushing unit with a sink suits most backyard parties.
Can units go on a lawn in winter?
Soft winter lawns can sink and rut under a unit or the truck. Gravel or pavement is safer from fall through spring. If lawn is the only option, tell us so we can plan.
